This website is operated by the business trading as FarmTradeDirect. Our registered company details and postal address are available on request by emailing contact@farmtradedirect.com.

We are the data controller for the personal information described here. You can reach us at contact@farmtradedirect.com.

What we collect and why

When you contact us — your name, email, phone number and your message. We use it to answer you. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (responding to an enquiry).

When you create an account — your name, email, phone number, farm or business name, county and postcode. We use it to run your account, show who a listing belongs to, and verify members. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.

When you subscribe — your plan, billing dates and payment status. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store them. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, and legal obligation for tax records.

When you post a listing or a wanted ad — everything you put in it, which is then public. Please do not put anything in a listing that you would not want published.

When you reveal a contact number — we record who revealed what, and when. This is how your allowance is counted, and it protects members from having their details harvested. Lawful basis: performance of a contract and legitimate interests (preventing abuse).

When you message another member — the content of those messages, so the conversation works and so we can investigate a complaint or a scam report.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not pass it to advertisers.

How long we keep it

Order and payment records: six years, because tax law requires it. Marketing consent: until you withdraw it. Enquiries: up to two years. Account data: while your account is open, and then a short period afterwards in case of a dispute.

Where it is stored

Our systems are hosted in the EU and UK. Where a supplier processes data outside the UK, that transfer is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

Your rights

You have the right to: see a copy of what we hold; have it corrected; have it deleted where we have no reason to keep it; restrict or object to how we use it; receive it in a portable form; and withdraw consent to marketing at any time.

To exercise any of these, email contact@farmtradedirect.com. We will respond within one month. There is nothing to pay.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or call 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
